SAFEY is an app that we require students to dowload onto their smartphone. In the event of an emergency, the student can send an SOS message to Georgia Tech-Lorraine that will be received by our on-call emergency contact. In addition, SAFEY helps our staff to locate and reach out to students in a timely fashion in case of emergency. 

Due to FERPA (link to https://oie.gatech.edu/sa/parents-info#Ferpa), we are not allowed to disclose any information about the student to anyone not pre-approved by the student. If you have questions or would like to know your student's travel plans, we suggest that you contact them.

Students attend a manadatory travel orientation where they learn about safety while traveling. They receive a weekly email with travel advisories. In addition, we request that students complete a weekly travel form to provide information on where they are going and who they will be traveling with, should it be necessary to contact them.

Student residences are gated and accessible by key fob. Students are instructed to keep their individual rooms locked at all times.

Entrance to Georgia Tech-Lorraine as well as key access points within the building, is by key fob only.

The Georgia Tech-Lorraine campus is fenced and gated. Security is on site during business hours.

2. GT Police: (404) 894-2500 In case of dire emergency, please contact the Georgia Tech Police department. They will be able to reach the Dean of Students, or his representaive, and the Georgia Tech-Lorraine emergency contact.
